Unpolished Barnyard millet or Sanwa rice as it is popularly known is a fast-growing cereal. It is grown in less fertile lands where other crops cannot be cultivated. Barnyard Millet is a tiny white-shaped seed that grows naturally in Uttarakhand, India. Barnyard millet tastes almost like broken rice when cooked. Barnyard Millet known by different names in different regions across India, known as Shyama in Bengal, Moraiyo in Gujarat, Sanwa rice in Hindi, Oodalu in Karnataka, Kuthiraivolly in Tamil Nadu, Udalu in Andra Pradesh and Jhangora in Uttarakhand.
